Rhidian Jones
Founder and Managing Director
Rhidian Jones started work in marketing aged just 16, earning £3 an hour telephone canvassing. By age 17 he had 43 staff and was ranked in the Top 5 of over 50 marketing managers in the Bowater Group.
After a further two years at Bowater, he joined the Sterling Media Group, publisher of over 100 magazines, where he was responsible for international advertising sales. During this time he founded several dotcom enterprises, eventually leaving SMG to pursue these interests with more vigor, whilst embarking upon a parallel career in broadcasting as a popular presenter on Ocean FM, Fresh FM, Hertbeat FM and Mercury 96.6. Seeing sales opportunities being missed in radio, Rhidian`s web company developed a radio station web-suite, coupled with an advertising sales methodology which resulted in the first radio station websites in the UK to be signficantly profitable in their own right.
After many years on the radio, and dispensing advice on marketing left, right and centre for free, Rhidian was delighted when a friend sat him down and practically insisted that Rhidian develop their marketing strategies on a commercial basis. Despite being only one day a week, this assignment led to multimillion pound pipelines in a matter of months, so having more fun then ever before, and finding he had a waiting list of clients, Rhidian prepared the sale of his remaining dotcom businesses, and started developing what would become Route-to-Market, working with more clients, and rapidly developing a team of marketing professionals to help scale the business.
Having spent many years at the coalface of sales and marketing, Rhidian has an innate sense of what works in marketing, crafting successful pitches in seconds, immediately knowing what will work and what will not. Having already delivered projects for the likes of Ford Motor Company, and the Department of Health, he is now retained by some of the world`s biggest companies to produce great angles for their new products and services, and to revitalise the marketing of existing ones.
His marketing workshops are the first part of a Route-to-Market client engagement, providing the strategy that the R2M team then execute with our trademark tenacity.
`Seldom does one impact another with such meaningful dialogue! Spending the short time that I did with you certainly had that result` Roger Williamson, January 2009.
Rhidian is a popular conference speaker, having spoken in London, Oslo, Copenhagen, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C.
He lives in London, is an avid theatregoer, a member of the Arts Club, the Executives Association of Great Britain, and the Academy for Chief Executives. He is a supporter of the Hay Literary Festival, a member of the Reform Club, and contributing editor for Business First Magazine.
Richard Stanley, BSc Hons
Operations Director
It took two years of asking to tempt Richard Stanley out of a well earned retirement to head up the delivery engine at Route-to-Market. We were right to keep trying. Richard made a huge impact to organisations such as British Aerospace, McDonnell-Douglas Information Systems, and Amazon Computers, but the place his name was cemented was in Control Data Corporation where he was responsible for turning round a billion dollars of investment. His key strength is managing sales teams, developing strategies for profitability and predictability. He has perfected sales forecasting to within 5% accuracy, and been responsible for productivity increases exceeding 70%.
Since retiring in his early forties, Richard has taken on a small number of private clients, including ABB, Amway, HSE, Viglen Computers and National Power. R2M is delighted to have tempted him out of retirement and he`s now based at our Victoria HQ, responsible for increasing Route-to-Market`s efficiency and client satisfaction levels.
Of particular interest to R2M clients is the Conviction Matrix, developed by Richard to get the client working in unison toward them being sold.
Boundless energy spans work and leisure. He built his canoe, rebuilt the 1953 AJS 500cc motorcycle that he bought at 16 and still uses both. As an RYA "offshore yachtmaster" he has sailed most of the British coastline in his 16` dinghy. He has driven a million accident free miles and made video documentaries in most of the 86 countries visited - including Russia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Arctic, and most of Australia (11000 km in 11 days). He has driven to Damascus, across Africa, to or in every capital of Europe, visited 48 of the 50 United States and enjoys the upkeep (and use) of three acres, swimming pool and tennis court as well as bringing up Olivia, born 2004.
He has been a member of the Institute of Directors, BCU, RYA, and is a life member of both National Trust, and English Heritage.
